Ecointegral carried out the full energy audit of the Port of Algeciras, which is the most important port in Spain in term of freight transport, with annual figures close to 100 million tons, as well as the transport of almost 5.5 million passengers and more than 1 million vehicles each year.
The study included the full audit of the energy and consumption facilities at the port, including construction solutions, the lighting and climate control of buildings for administrative, storage and logistical purposes for the maintenance work, wholesale markets, passenger and vehicle terminals, industrial warehouses, a complex exterior lighting system for the docks and roads at the port (including the facilities of the breakwater), and staff vehicles, among other aspects.
In the final part, a series of energy efficiency and energy-saving improvements were coordinated, including climate control optimisation, solar energy self-sufficiency installations, renewal of lighting systems, and the enhancement of energy supply contracts, among others.
