Environmental rating and processing of the 12.5-kilometre power distribution line between Almuradiel and Aldeaquemada

Ecointegral prepared the environmental documentation and the environmental rating of the renewal of the medium voltage overhead line with an initial length of 15,044 metres.
The new line is shorter (12,400 m) but its voltage was raised to increase its transmission capacity.
Taking into account the environmental sensitivity of the surroundings, the configuration of the power line was designed so that it incorporates innovative systems to protect bird life and minimise impact.
In general, not only will the new line improve the robustness of the local distribution grid, but it will also be more respectful of local fauna, complying with the provisions in Royal Decree 1432/2008 of 29 August, which establishes measures to protect birds from collision and electrocution on power lines.
As part of the environmental rating, Ecointegral also carried out an in-depth study of the receiving environment, including a study of the geology and geomorphology of the area, hydrology, vegetation, fauna, richness of the landscape, and the different figures protected by historical/archaeological heritage and for agricultural use.
A study of the socioeconomic situation of the affected municipalities was also carried out, identifying possible environmental risks and impacts. This was complemented by a study of proposals aimed at minimising or even preventing impacts and by a full environmental monitoring programme to check the adaptation and efficiency of the proposals once implemented.
In addition to all the technical documentation required by the various authorities, the project included a thorough monitoring of the processing process and comprehensive advice for the client to analyse the different proposals and alternatives, as well as the entire process until the goals are achieved.
